Stronghold Climbing Gym

The Lincoln Heights location of Stronghold Climbing Gym is housed in a historic, unreinforced masonry building over 100 years old, originally constructed as a power plant for the California Edison Company. This facility once generated electricity for the Red Car rail system and the city’s street lighting.

Today, the space has been transformed into an exceptional climbing gym. It features expansive climbing areas within a 60’ x 200’ open section of the building, with climbing walls soaring up to 45 feet tall. The gym also includes an upstairs fitness space, offering a well-rounded environment for both climbers and fitness enthusiasts.

This adaptive reuse project not only preserves the building’s historical significance but also addresses its structural challenges, breathing new life into the space as a vibrant and functional destination for the climbing community.
